Why Harry Reid can call black people "negroes"

Because he has a mouth.

And also...because he doesn't try to disenfranchise black people in the state of Nevada. And because there probably aren't any black people in Nevada anyway.

Oh, and because he's a democrat.

Yes...I said it. Because Sen. Harry Reid is a democrat, finding out from a third party that he said the word "Negro" once when referring to our Negro president doesn't sound half as offensive as it would have coming out of, say, Sen. John McCain's mouth. You know, the gentleman from Arizona who voted several times to deny his constituents the right to next Monday off.

Anyway - when FOXNews is quoting Alveda King (Dr. King's cousin or neighbor...or, um, niece or something), they're grasping for straws. Yes, America, there is a double standard. A triple standard, really. Because black people can use the word "Nigga", and white liberals can use the word "Negro," but white conservatives better not use any word beginning with the letter "N" when referring to a person of color. I don't care if they happen to be a Nigerian named Nancy, you need to find a different word.

Side note - my father's mother still called black people Negro while I was growing up, and if she had lived just 7 years longer, she probably would have called Obama a Negro on more than one occasion.

Second side note - I don't like Harry Reid.
